Dr. Michael Lange and Fortifeye Vitamins released for sale Friday November 8th the all new Zinc Free macular Defense vitamin for macular degeneration. This is a line of genotype directed nutritional supplements developed by Dr. Michael Lange under the Fortifeye label. This will be recommended by optometrists and ophthalmologists for their patients after they have a DNA test proving they need to be taking a zinc free supplement for macular degeneration. Dr. Michael Lange recommends a DNA test called Macula Risk.
This new zinc free eye vitamin comes in a bottle with 90 count. Dr. Michael Lange recommends taking this supplement in conjunction with Fortifeye Super Omega. The omega 3 fatty acids in the tg form will enhance the absorption of the zinc free vitamin. This supplement can be taken by anyone that is looking for a great anti oxidant that has been told to stay away from zinc. This is the ideal vitamin for macular degeneration patients due to its anti oxidant profile and it is also beta-carotene free!! Beta-carotene blocks the uptake of lutein, zeaxanthin and maybe even astaxanthin and may increase the risk of progressive macular degeneration. This formula is being used by 1000s of patients and doctors all over the world. This is not only an eye formula but a whole body formula too. I would like to have information on the studies done that lead to eliminating zinc from vitamins for Macular Degeneration patients. Does this include all zinc or is a minimal (15 mg) acceptable if taken at a time away from the antioxidant supplements?
the studies indicate that high dosages of zinc especially the amount in the areds formulas 80mg may do harm in a high percentage of patients. the only way to know is to do a dna test for macular degeneration. most nutrition experts agree that no one should be taking more than 40 mg. 15mg should be fine..
